Taiwan Scholarship Program 2010/2011

This scholarship is sponsored by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the Republic of China (ROC, Taiwan) through the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Canada. The purpose of this program is to enhance academic exchange between universities in CanadaandTaiwan.Twoscholarships will be provided for the 2010~2011 academic
year.
Eligibility
An applicant must meet all of the following criteria-
1. Is a high school graduate or above, have an excellent academic performance in
his/her most recent formal educational study experience, be of good moral character
and does not have any criminal records.
2. Is a Canadian citizen and is not an R.O.C. (Taiwan) national.
3. Does not have the status of being on overseas compatriot student.
4. Has never enrolled at any educational institution in Taiwan for the same level of
degree or Language Enrichment Program that he/she intends to matriculate with the
aid of a Taiwan scholarship.
5. Is not an exchange student in accordance with any agreement of cooperation between
and international university/college and an educational institute in Taiwan, at the time
of receiving a Taiwan Scholarship.
6. Has never received Taiwan Scholarship to undertake degree programs exceeding the
total award period of 5 years.
7. Does not have any revocation record regarding the Taiwan Scholarship Program nor
from the Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Program.
8. Is not a recipient of any other scholarship or subsidy offered by the Taiwan
government or at any other educational institutions in Taiwan.
Scholarship Duration
Maximum of four years for undergraduate programs, two years for master programs and
three years for Ph.D. programs. If a student pursues an undergraduate and graduate program
or a Master and subsequently a Ph.D. program, the total duration of the scholarships can not
exceed 5 years. The annual award periods are from September 1 through August 31 of the
following year. Recipients must matriculate within the award period unless approved by the
receiving institution and the scholarship funding government agency. If recipients fail to
arrive in Taiwan to study during this period, their award status will be cancelled and can not
be extended for another year.
Scholarship Benefits
A monthly stipend of NT$25,000 (approximately CAD$800) for an undergraduate degree
program.
A monthly stipend of NT$30,000 (approximately CAD$950) for a graduate degree program.
Recipients are responsible for their own expenses.
